Sixth-straight AFC Championship awaits Kansas City Chiefs and former Bulldogs
Only four teams remain in the battle for a Super Bowl Championship in the NFL and two Mississippi State Bulldogs are still in the hunt.
Kansas City Chiefs defensive standouts defensive tackle Chris Jones and Willie Gay Jr. will have a chance to lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl for the second-straight season if they can knock off the NFL’s winningest team in 2023-24, the Baltimore Ravens. Game time is 2 p.m. CT on CBS.
The AFC Championship is the sixth-straight for the Chiefs and they’re looking to win it for the fourth time during that stretch.
Jones has experienced all six of those championship games and the Houston native has been a big reason why the team is routinely playing in the biggest games. This season, Jones missed the first game of the year due to a hold out but corralled 10.5 sacks in 16 games and earned a first-team All-Pro selection for the second time in his eight seasons.
It was Jones’ fifth time to make the postseason list in his career and fourth-straight selection with back-to-back first-team honors. Jones also earned a fourth-straight Pro Bowl pick and is rising up the list of all-time greats in Kansas City with his 75.5 sacks.

In the first two playoff games, Jones has had four tackles, a pass deflection, a forced fumble and 0.5 sack.
The Chiefs aren’t yet sure if Gay will be playing on Sunday after the talented linebacker injured his neck in the Chiefs’ win last week at Buffalo. Gay is the primary spy linebacker for KC and critical to the gameplan against running quarterbacks, so his absence makes things interesting defending the dangerous Jackson.
Gay had a pass deflection and two tackles in the win against Miami but had three tackles and a tackle for loss in the first 17 plays before being injured. He had 58 tackles, 4.0 TFL four pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, an interception and 1.0 sack this season in 16 regular season games.
A win will have Jones playing in his fourth Super Bowl game with Gay earning his third trip to the big one. The two won it all last season against the Philadelphia Eagles and Jones won his first one in 2019.
