This weekend Mississippi State hosted a dozen official visitors in the Class of 2025 and the Bulldogs continue to fill spots in that class. But Mississippi State also got off to a quick start in the Class of 2027 with its first commitment in that class this weekend.

2027 cornerback Kennedy Green of Pebblebrook (Ga.) High School announced his Bulldog commitment on Sunday, a day after delivering the news to State’s staff in person. Green also holds other Power 4 offers from Florida State, Missouri, Utah, Kentucky and Nebraska.

“I committed to them on Saturday when they played Missouri,” recalled the 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Green. “That was my second visit there and it was good. They were pretty straight forward with everything and they told me what it will take to be there. The players, fans and coaches showed me love while I was there. So it just felt it was the right decision.”

This weekend marked a return visit for Green, who also unofficially visited State earlier this season. He has also learned more about the program from one of his coaches on the Pebblebrook High School staff.

“I have a coach (Scoobie Ford) that went to Mississippi State,” added Green. “So I’ve been around Mississippi State for awhile. I’ve been watching the program since I’ve been in high school and I like what they’re building there.”

On Saturday, Green delivered his commitment news to Mississippi State cornerbacks coach Corey Bell. He talked of Bell’s reaction and Bell’s thoughts on the future.

“It went good with Coach Bell,” noted Green. “He liked my decision and he was excited. He said they’re building something special there and he said I’ve got to earn it.”

Naturally, Green also told head coach Jeff Lebby about his decision. While State has struggled this season, Green was encouraged by Lebby’s thoughts on State’s program in the coming years.

“Coach Lebby was also talking about the program and building it up,” Green added. “He said he’s going to turn it around and wants me there. He said I would be a big part of their program building back up.”

Green finished up his sophomore season earlier this month and did so in the postseason. He made a habit of picking off passes this season and also shared the credit with his teammates.

“We did make it to the playoffs this year,” mentioned Green. “I had a good year, too. I led the region in our area in interceptions and I had eight. That part went well. I was definitely seeing everything this year and my teammates helped me a lot.”
