Throughout his recruiting process, 2025 point guard and On3 four-star prospect King Grace has talked often about the importance of his relationships with college coaches. On Sunday evening, that proved to be a factor for Grace’s announcement as the Faith Family (Texas) School standout committed to Mississippi State.

Earlier this month, Grace dwindled down his list of finalists to Mississippi State, LSU, Cincinnati, TCU, SMU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Grace officially visited all of his finalists and is rated as the nation’s No. 6 point guard and the state’s No. 5 prospect by On3 composite rankings. He is also listed as the nation’s No. 46 overall prospect regardless of position by On3 composite and becomes the highest-rated commitment in the Chris Jans era.

“Coach Jans talked to me a lot about the school and how he can develop me,” noted Grace in a recent interview. “He was showing me how I fit their style and how I would fit in well with their program and system. He really believes I can fit into their playing style well. I’ve got a good relationship with Coach Jans and Coach (Dave) Anwar, and they’ve been recruiting me for a long time.”

Grace got a good look at Jans’ coaching style and system this year, as well. He attended State’s win over Top 10 Auburn at Humphrey Coliseum last season and then officially visited the Bulldogs’ program two weekends ago. Overall, Grace has studied the way Jans uses his guards on the floor and how he allows them to learn on the run.

“I love the way they play and I love the way Coach Jans lets his players play,” added Grace. “I think he is a great coach, in my opinion. He gets on his players but they are still receptive to him. He doesn’t take them out and lets them play through their mistakes. I like that about a coach.”

During his last trip to Starkville for his official visit, Grace was also able to learn more about State’s practice routine. Those observations and viewing opportunity also has Grace optimistic about Mississippi State’s upcoming season.

“They are going to have a real nice team,” Grace told Maroon and White Daily earlier this month. “Coach Jans goes over everything in practice. There is no slacking off with his practices and he runs a real tough practice. And the players were doing well. Josh Hubbard stood out and he can really score. I didn’t know all of their guys but the guy from Florida (Riley Kugel) is a very skilled player, too.”

With his decision, Grace becomes the third commitment in Mississippi State’s Class of 2025. He joins On3 three-star wing Cameron Paul of DeSoto (Texas) High and On3 three-star center Chol Machot of Florida Southwestern State College. Stay tuned in on Maroon and White Daily for more thoughts and comments from Grace.
