It took a little longer than it did for his counterparts to announce their commitment to Mississippi State. But on Tuesday, 2025 defensive back Lo’Kavion Jackson released his recent news about joining Mississippi State’s Class of 2025.

Overall, Jackson was one of nine prospects to commit to Mississippi State last month during their June 14-16 official visits to Starkville. Jackson also holds offers from Miami and Troy among others, and the Mosley (Fla.) High School product collected his Bulldog offer in late May following an impressive showing at Top Dawg Clinic.

“I committed on Saturday while I was on my visit,” explained the 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Jackson. “It felt good to make that decision and I had a good feeling about them ever since they offered. They gave me good vibes and I feel like their staff will develop me the best. So that is where I want to play at.”

In his return trip to Starkville last month, Jackson felt at home with State’s staffs along with the Bulldog players and other recruits on campus. He mentioned a couple of things that stood out to him on the first day of his visit.

“It was good,” Jackson recalled of his official visit. “The atmosphere was good. The coaches gave us a good vibe and it was all great. My favorite part was probably the scavenger hunt and then going out with my host. With the scavenger hunt, we had to find a bunch of cards and they all had hints on them and then you had to find four main cards and take a picture with Coach Lebby at the end.”

Jackson and the other visitors along with their families also got an extended stay at Davis Wade Stadium on Friday evening. And Jackson said the coaching staff at State did a good job of putting everyone at ease and welcomed.

“On Friday night they also had jumping houses and water slides and all of that,” added Jackson. “We also had dinner at the stadium, too, and we had a great time. It as cool that they had all of those planned events for us and everyone felt comfortable around each other. It was just a very enjoyable weekend.”

So far in his prep career at Mosley High School, Jackson has played multiple positions in the secondary. At the next level, he discussed his future with safeties coach Matt Barnes and enjoyed the feedback he received from Barnes.

“I enjoyed my time with Coach Barnes and we talked about a lot of things,” Jackson remarked. “He is recruiting me as a safety and he said they play four safeties in their scheme. He feels like I can fit in their scheme well and he is ready to coach me.”

Also last weekend, Jackson spent time with several Mississippi State defensive backs, including his player host. And getting that kind of insight also played a role, he said, in his college decision.

“Cyrus Reyes was my player host and he plays safety there,” noted Jackson. “He enrolled as a freshman back in January. He said everything I saw was real. He said it is a family environment and it is all good. That made me feel comfortable about going to State and I am excited about my decision.”
