Initial SEC Availability Report for Mississippi State-Arkansas

Ahead of Saturday’s matchup with Arkansas, all eyes for Mississippi State fans continue to be directed towards Fluff Bothwell’s status.
The Initial SEC Availability Report revealed that State fans will have to wait a little longer to see if Bothwell will play on Saturday. This week, Bothwell has been upgraded to probable for the first time on Jeff Lebby’s Availability Report. In the pregame warmups against Texas, Bothwell was seen on the field working with the team as a game-time decision, but he would not play.
An added addition to the list is starting right tackle Albert Reese who is questionable for Saturday. Reese missed the Bulldogs ball game against Texas A&M with an injury. Backup cornerback Jett Jefferson is listed as probable and was on the injury report last week until the weekend when he was removed.
The sophomore running back Bothwell has missed each of the last two games since suffering a lower leg injury against Texas A&M back on October 4. Bothwell was carted off the field and was feared to be lost for the season, but Lebby confirmed the following week that his injury was not believed to be serious. He could be making his return to the field on Saturday and he would bring a major lift to the Bulldog offense.

This season, Bothwell is second on the team in rushing with 84 carries for 465 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Davon Booth just passed him in those categories last week despite having played in two more ball games.
Additionally, the Bulldogs (4-4, 0-4 SEC) will continue to be without backup center Brennan Smith who has been listed as Out on the report for three-straight weeks. He joins two players that are out for the season in DE Will Whitson and OT Blake Steen.
Arkansas (2-6, 0-4 SEC) has six players out for the game in DB Quentavius Scandrett, WR Monte Harrison and Jalen Brown, RB AJ Green, TE Andreas Paaske and DL David Oke. Starting RG Caden Kitler and OL E’Marion Harris are Questionable.
Game time on Saturday between the winless SEC teams is set for 3 p.m. on SEC Network.
