Noah Sullivan to make Diamond Dawg pitching debut on Wednesday night

One of Mississippi State’s most impressive hitters this year is set to make his Diamond Dawg debut on the mound on Wednesday.
The team announced that Noah Sullivan will be the starting pitcher when State takes the field against Nicholls in Biloxi. The 5 p.m. first pitch will bring the Bulldogs’ regular designated hitter into the spotlight as a pitcher for the first time, but he has extensive experience over the course of his career.
At USC-Upstate, Sulivan pitched in 29 games over three years with an impressive 15-1 record. Sullivan had a 3.95 ERA over the course of 120.2 innings and had two saves. He struck out 93 batters and walked 40.
Sullivan was 6-0 with a 3.31 ERA his freshman year before missing a large portion of 2023 and pitching in just six games. Last season, he lost just once ball game and it came against Kentucky as he was 8-1 in 12 starts with a 4.88 ERA and one save. He had a career-high 75.2 innings and 51 strikeouts while walking 22.
After transferring to State in the offseason, Sullivan was named to the preseason All-American team as a utility player and he’s lived up to the billing. As State’s primary DH, Sullivan has batted .412 with 21 hits, five doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI while walking 12 times, being hit by pitch five and striking out 11 in 51 at bats.

He has a .559 on base percentage and a .686 slugging percentage. Sullivan is tied for the team lead in doubles and hit by pitch, second on the squad in batting average, RBI and hits.
The Bulldogs (12-4) are hoping to win a sixth-straight game and head into the first SEC weekend red hot. State has scored nine or more runs in every game during that stretch and the Diamond Dawgs have had 11-straight games of five or more runs for the first time since 2000.
After Wednesday night’s game, the Bulldogs will be back in Starkville at Dudy Noble Field on Friday against No. 11 Texas for a three-game series.
