Mississippi State adds Campbell's Reed Stallman to transfer class
A power-hitting Campbell first baseman is on the move to Starkville.
Reed Stallman announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Sunday morning. The 6’3, 220-pound Stallman leaves a talented Camel roster that just lost its architect in head coach Justin Haire who left for Ohio State.
Last season, Stallman was a productive hitter. Despite dealing with a reported wrist injury, he hit 15 home runs in 47 games, walked 47 times with a .560 slugging % and had a .441 on base percentage. He had 38 hits and scored 48 runs while batting .239 with 43 strikeouts. Stallman also stole all eight bases attempted.

Stallman also appears to be the heir apparent at first base. With the expected loss of Hunter Hines to the MLB Draft, State would add a capable first baseman in Stallman. He had a .992 fielding percentage on the year with three errors and 364 putouts.
It’s the fourth transfer in the Bulldog class this offseason as Stallman joins North Alabama 3B Gehrig Frei, The Citadel’s SS Sawyer Reeves and USC Upstate 1B/RHP Noah Sullivan. State has had five different players transfer out with RHP Logan Forsythe, LHP Cole Cheatham and Max Miller, INF Jace Norton and OF/1B Jackson McKenzie all entering over the first few weeks.
This is the first action for State either in or out of the portal in nearly a week.
