After a 5-0 start to the season, Mississippi State’s basketball program is ranked for the first time this season. In Monday’s updated Associated Press Top 25 rankings, head coach Chris Jans and his Bulldog squad check in at No. 25.

It marks the third straight season for the Bulldogs to enter the Top 25 Associated Press rankings. The Bulldogs were also ranked in Jans’ first two seasons in Starkville and reached as high as No. 15 in Jans’ debut season two years ago after an 11-0 start in that 2022-23 campaign.

This season Mississippi State has captured wins over West Georgia, Georgia State, Southeastern Louisiana, Utah and SMU. Last time out, the Bulldogs captured a win at SMU in their first road game of the season this past Friday.

Including Mississippi State, the SEC had nine teams in the Associated Press Top 25. Auburn leads the way from the SEC at No. 4 followed by Tennessee at No. 7. Other SEC teams in the Top 10 include Kentucky at No. 8 and Alabama at No. 9.
