The preseason SEC voting was released on Tuesday and for Mississippi State, the Bulldogs were projected to finish 10th in the SEC this upcoming season. Mississippi State sophomore guard Josh Hubbard was also voted second-team All-SEC in preseason voting, which was done by a select panel of SEC and national media members.

Alabama was voted to win the SEC followed by Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas A&M in the Top 5. Alabama guard Mark Sears was voted as the preseason SEC Men’s Basketball Player of the year, as well. Joining Sears on the preseason All-SEC first-team was Johni Broome of Auburn, Asa Newell of Georgia, Zakai Zeigler of Tennessee and Wade Taylor IV of Texas A&M.

Last season, Hubbard earned All-SEC honors and led the Bulldogs in scoring with 17.1 points a game. Hubbard also set a school record a year ago with 108 made 3 pointers.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 21-14 season under head coach Chris Jans, who has led State to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in his first two seasons at the helm. The Bulldogs open the 2024-25 season at home against West Georgia with a 6:30 p.m. tip-off time at Humphrey Coliseum.
