Mississippi State basketball drops in latest national rankings
As expected after an 0-2 week, Mississippi State dropped in the latest national rankings released on Monday. Last week the Bulldogs fell to Alabama, 88-84, and Missouri, 88-61, at Humphrey Coliseum.
After being ranked No. 14 last week in the Associated Press Top 25, on Monday the Bulldogs (16-6 overall, 4-5 in SEC) dropped to No. 22. Mississippi State was one of nine SEC teams ranked in the latest Associated Press Top 25, including five SEC teams in the Top 10.
Auburn remained the top ranked team in the AP Top 25 followed by Alabama at No. 3, Tennessee at No. 4, Florida at No. 6 and Texas A&M at No. 10. Other SEC teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 included No. 14 Kentucky, No. 15 Missouri and No. 25 Ole Miss.

In the USA Today Coaches poll, Mississippi State fell completely out of the Top 25. The Bulldogs received 88 votes in that poll, which had the Bulldogs right outside the Top 25 at No. 26.
Mississippi State gets a rare mid-week break from SEC play this week before returning to action on Saturday with a 5 p.m. tipoff at Georgia.
