Mississippi State moves up in latest national basketball rankings

Following Mississippi State’s 1-1 week on the basketball hardwood, the Bulldogs had some movement in the latest national basketball rankings. After being ranked No. 22 last week in the Associated Press Top 25, the Bulldogs moved up to No. 21 on Monday.
Also on Monday, Mississippi State made a return to the Top 25 in the USA Today Coaches poll. The Bulldogs were barely outside the Top 25 the previous two weeks in the USA Today Coaches poll but returned at No. 23 in Monday’s updated rankings.
Last week Mississippi State dropped an 81-68 decision to No. 2 Florida on Tuesday at Humphrey Coliseum before bouncing back to capture an 81-71 victory at No. 24 Ole Miss this past Saturday.

Once again, the SEC dominated the Associated Top 25 with eight conference teams ranked, including five SEC teams in the Top 10. Auburn remained at No. 1 followed by No. 2 Florida, No. 4 Alabama, No. 6 Tennessee and No. 7 Texas A&M. Other SEC teams in the Associated Press Top 25 includes Kentucky at No. 17 and Ole Miss at No. 24.
This week the Bulldogs host No. 7 Texas A&M in a 6 p.m. tip-off at Humphrey Coliseum on Tuesday and then Mississippi State returns to the road to face Oklahoma on Saturday in a noon tip-off.
