Bulldogs blast Chicago State 102-42 on the road
Mississippi State women’s basketball ran past Chicago State, 102-42, inside Jones Convocation Center on Sunday.
With the win, Mississippi State improves to 9-1 on the season and 37-7 in non-conference action under Purcell.
Graduate student guard Jerkaila Jordan posted 21 points on 9-13 from the field, in addition to five rebounds, five blocks, three assists and three steals in 30 minutes.
Junior center Madina Okot recorded the third double-double of her career with 18 points on 8-11 from the field and 11 rebounds, nine of which were offensive, in 20 minutes. Graduate student guard/forward Chandler Prater buried a career-high four threes to add 14 points on 5-9 from the field and 4-5 from three, in addition to five rebounds and four assists in 23 minutes.
Mississippi State raced out to a 19-4 lead entering the first media timeout. The Bulldogs turned in their second-highest first-quarter point total of the early schedule with a 31-9 lead through the initial 10 minutes.

Mississippi State closed out the first half on an 18-0 run over the final 5:19 minutes of action to extend its lead to 63-17 entering the halftime locker room. The Bulldogs converted on 63.2 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from behind the arc in the first half.
The 63 points were one shy of the highest half total for Mississippi State this season after it posted 64 in the second half against Memphis in the opener on Nov. 7. The Bulldogs forced 13 Cougar first-half turnovers and turned it into 19 points.
Mississippi State continued its dominance out of the halftime break to push the margin to 85-31 at the end of the third quarter. Prater knocked down a pair of her four threes in the third frame. The Bulldogs hit the century mark and built their largest lead of the game on a drive and finish from sophomore forward/center Quanirah Montague with 1:16 minutes left in regulation.
The Bulldogs held a 50-22 advantage in points in the paint and a 34-16 margin in bench points.
Mississippi State returns to action when it battles Belmont in a neutral-site doubleheader inside Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, Miss. next Saturday, Dec. 14.
