Following just one season with Mississippi State, cornerback Tre Wright is on the move.

A source with On3 Sports confirmed on Saturday that the sophomore has entered the  transfer portal following the spring. Wright is the eighth scholarship player to transfer out this spring as the Bulldogs look to add more talent to the roster.

Wright has played in one game in his first two seasons of college football. He came to Starkville from Memphis as he followed safeties coach Matt Barnes to MSU. He had redshirted his first season with the Tigers and didn’t play in a game.

In Jeff Lebby’s first year, Wright only logged time in one game as he played against the Arizona State Sun Devils. He spent most of the year dealing with an injury. Practice and workout reports suggested that Wright was one of the team’s fastest players, but he never got the chance to showcase it.

The Bulldogs have nearly had a total roster flip since last season after Lebby’s first team went 2-10. The coach remarked often last year that he needed to add quality depth to the team and he has had 30 players hit the portal since the end of last season while adding 27 additional players.

In the last week, the Bulldogs have added some key positions to the roster with two offensive linemen and two tight ends. Offensive tackles Blake Steen of Virginia and Jaekwon Bouldin of Purdue committed and were followed by Indiana’s Sam West and Eastern Michigan’s Max Reese at the tight end spot.

State is still looking to add another offensive lineman or two as well as at least one defensive back.
