QUICK RECAP: Mississippi State falls 17-7 to No. 12 Ole Miss in Egg Bowl

Quinshon Judkins rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown Thursday to lead No. 12 Ole Miss to a 17-7 victory over Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium.

Judkins’ third-quarter touchdown gave the Rebels the lead for good at 10-7 as Mississippi State wasted several scoring opportunities in the final quarter of play.

As a team, Ole Miss totaled 307 yards and had 211 yards on the ground. Ulysses Bentley added 10 carries for 63 yards for the Rebels while Jaxson Dart was just 14 of 26 passing for 96 yards with one touchdown.

Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers was 25 of 39 passing for 207 yards with a touchdown run in the third quarter. Zavion Thomas led State receivers with six catches for 88 yards. The Bulldogs finished with 303 yards of offense and were just 4 of 15 on third down.

Mississippi State finishes the regular season at 5-7 overall and 1-7 in the SEC while Ole Miss moved to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the league.

Trailing 3-0 at the half, Mississippi State’s offense finally found a rhythm and drove 71 yards on 10 plays with its first drive of the second half. Rogers capped off the drive with a one-yard scoring run as State took a 7-3 lead with 8:33 remaining in the third quarter.

Ole Miss quickly responded on the enusing drive, however, and took a 10-7 lead woth Quinshon Judkins two-yard touchdown run with 4:47 left in the third.

The Rebels extended their lead to 17-7 on their next drive after covering 71 yards on 10 plays. On third and two, Dart hit tight end Caden Prieskorn for a 26-yard touchdown pass with 13:26 left in regulation.

The first half featured nine combined punts before either team got on the scoreboard. Ole Miss used a run-heavy drive midway through the second quarter to take the early 3-0 lead thanks to a Caden Costa 36 yard field goal with 8:23 remaining in the half.

Mississippi State did not enter Ole Miss territory until the final drive of the half. The Bulldogs marched 58 yards on 10 plays on that drive but freshman Kyle Ferrie missed a 42-yard field goal with 15 seconds left in the half.

Overall, the first half had 11 combined punts. Ole Miss had just 137 yards of offense in the opening half with 96 coming on the ground. Mississippi State had 143 yards of offense with 93 coming through the air. Ole Miss had four penalties for 20 yards in the first half and State was flagged twice for 10 yards.
