As gameday quickly approaches for Mississippi State and Florida, more clarity is coming into view with player availability.

The SEC’s new injury policy requires schools to post a preliminary report on Wednesday night and update it Thursday and Friday evening with a final update 90 minutes before game time. Most notable from State’s first report on Wednesday was that senior safety Corey Ellington was probable for the game with defensive tackles Kedrick Bingley-Jones and Kalvin Dinkins questionable and out, respectively.

Thursday update did not include Ellington as he is now slated to make his debut this season. Ellington was one of State’s most productive defensive backs a season ago with a career-high 66 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two pass deflection and a forced fumble.

Ellington was injured during preseason camp and hasn’t played in the first three games this season.

Bingley-Jones and Dinkins are now both expected to miss Saturday’s contest as Bingley-Jones has been downgraded to out. Bingley-Jones started the first three games of the season but went down with an injury against Toledo. Dinkins hasn’t played since the second quarter of the first game of the year against Eastern Kentucky.
