Bulldog defense takes hit with Brice Pollock announcing portal move
Mississippi State’s first big hit of the transfer portal came on Tuesday.
Sophomore cornerback Brice Pollock is set to enter the portal when it opens on December 9 in news first announced by On3Sports. It’s a hit to State’s secondary as Pollock put together a solid season in what was a miserable year for the Bulldogs on that side of the ball.
The 6’1, 190-pound sophomore made an impact for the Bulldogs immediately last year. A native of Georgia and a former standout at Shiloh High School, Pollock stepped in and played major reps down the stretch last season with 24 tackles and a 0.5 TFL. This year, Pollock was easily State’s most productive corner as he became a shutdown corner with 48 tackles, 10 passes defended, an interception, 1.0 TFL and a forced fumble.
Pollock was originally committed to Pittsburgh during the recruiting process but the Bulldogs landed him on signing day of 2022.

He takes away what would have been a major piece to State’s defense locked in for a unit that must greatly improve in 2025. Coleman Hutzler is down to just a few players that he’ll be able to build around in the transfer portal and now opens up an important add for the coach for next year.
Pollock is the fourth State player to announce intentions to enter the portal on Tuesday alone. He follows LB Ty Cooper and John Lewis and DL Gabe Moore. He’s the eighth player from State’s roster to enter the portal overall.
