Mississippi State entered the first official visit weekend this summer with just four players committed in the class of 2025 and that number will be doubled this week.

The Bulldogs had a monster visit weekend as Jeff Lebby has already had six players announce and more are expected in the coming days. Among that group was Greene County (Ga.) safety Stephen Miller.

Miller was one of several that would commit at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday night as several players made the move and committed to the Bulldogs. It was a night that the talented defensive back won’t sure forget.

“(Saturday night) was great. It was great to see everyone in there ringing the cowbells. That let me know that it was about to be something really special,” Miller said. “What made it so special is the other corner that committed, Derrion (Horsley). As soon as we hit campus, we were locked in like we had been knowing each other forever. We see ourselves here together like brothers and we’re going top build something special.”

The No. 44 safety in the country by On3, Miller has had a busy last few months as he’s picked up offers from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, LSU, Arkansas, West Virginia, Maryland and others.

Kansas, Oregon State and Indiana were a few schools that were hitting up Miller the hardest and he had a visit to North Carolina State coming next had he not committed. At the end of the day, Lebby and recruiter Corey Bell were a big reason why he chose the Bulldogs and the visit would sew it up.

“The experience was great. They took me in as family and that’s what I love so much about it,” Miller said. “Coach Lebby isn’t trying to bring in any scrubs. He’s trying to build something, I want to be a part of this and I want to help build. This is just like family.

“Through my whole process, I knew it was going to be Mississippi State. I knew that if I got what I expected on my official visit, I was going to (commit). Who wouldn’t want to have a coach like Coach Lebby? He’s fun, exciting and wants to win. That’s all there is to it.”

Already in the boat with Miller from the weekend were Florida ATH Sekou Smith, Alabama EDGE Christopher Johnson, Copiah Lincoln CC LB LaKendrick James, Clinton Christian OT Josiah Clemons and the fellow Georgia defensive back Horsley.

The staff was extremely high on Miller and Lebby reiterated to him in the exit meeting how important he is to the program moving forward. He’s ready to prove it.

“They expect me to come in and make plays and be a top priority,” Miller said. “I’m going to live up to that. I’m going to come in, go to work and try to help the program the best that I can.”
