100 Day Bulldog Countdown: 81 Days - No. 81, WR Antonio Harmon
Jeff Lebby’s era of Mississippi State football has arrived.
The Bulldogs are on their third coach in as many years as Mike Leach’s tragic passing opened the door for defensive coordinator Zach Arnett’s debut as head coach last year. That experiment failed before the year even ended for State and now it’s Lebby’s turn to take the wheel.
While there is always a risk in hiring first time head coaches, Lebby brings to Starkville an exciting offensive scheme that has been productive everywhere he’s been. The coach has also brought with him some swagger that has the fanbase ready to see what’s next.
Over the course of the next 100 days, we will take a look at Lebby’s roster and even some fun historical rewinds that will bring back memories for Dawg fans of all ages.
Today, we look at a pass catcher that is looking for some new life in a new offense.
100 Day Bulldog Countdown: 81 Days – No. 81, Jr. WR Antonio Harmon
It’s been a back and forth kind of career for Harmon since he arrived in Starkville. Will he play tight end? Will he play wide receiver? That’s been dependent on the offense to this point, and this offense has him back working with the wide outs.
The Kosciusko native does have the luxury of being able to play either position on this level, but wide receiver suits him the best. He joined the Bulldog roster in 2021 after committing to Leach late in the process.

The former Dandy Dozen member was a four-star recruit that many believed would land at Ole Miss. In the end, the Bulldogs got his signature and he was an intriguing pick up for the Air Raid offense.
Following a redshirt year in 2021 in which Harmon got to play in two ball games, he would play in five in 2022 and haul in five passes for 61 yards. Last year, Harmon moved from wide receiver to tight end and was one of the few players that was able to produce at the position under Kevin Barbay as he had 14 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown in 12 games played.
Harmon missed the bulk of the spring this year with an injury but should be fully healthy for the first part of training camp. He will be in the mix with several Bulldog outside receivers and is an intriguing option for Blake Shapen and company as State looks to build depth at the position.
