100-Day Bulldog Countdown: 73 Days, No. 73 OL Jaekwon Bouldin

Year two of the Jeff Lebby era has arrived and the Mississippi State coach is back to work.
After a disappointing first season, the coach and his staff are doing what they can to get things back on track in Starkville. The players on the field will be the difference for State this season if they are to make a return and we’re going to discuss every single one of them over the course of the next few months.
As we do every year, we’re counting down 100 days until State’s first game at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on August 30. Over this period of time, we’ll breakdown every scholarship player on the roster, look back at great moments in MSU history and even talk about legends that have come before the current Bulldogs.
Today, we look at a transfer portal lineman hoping to make an impact this year.
73 Days: No. 73, Junior OL Jaekwon Bouldin
A year after Lebby and his staff missed out on Bouldin out of Gulf Coast Community College, the coach had his second chance with the massive blocker.
Bouldin was a coveted junior college recruit in the class as State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn and Purdue were the big offers. Ultimately, the Canton native decided to narrow things down to Purdue and the Bulldogs and former offensive line coach Marcus Johnson won the battle for the Boilermakers.

In his one season with the Boilermakers, Bouldin wasn’t able to make his impact with the team due to a broken hand and he redshirted. With the season not going as hoped, he decided to reenter the transfer portal in the spring and the Bulldogs just happened to be looking for more help up front. This time, Bouldin would pull the trigger on State.
It’s a return home for Bouldin after playing his high school ball at Canton High School, but he flew under the radar. MGCC would be his home for his first two seasons of college football and it earned him opportunities on the next level. Now he gets a chance to play in the SEC for his final two seasons.
The role that Bouldin plays will be determined by the work he puts in during practices this summer. At 6’6, 340 pounds, Boulding has a massive frame and could be a player that can help this new look front.
