In the midst of a newsworthy signing day in college football, announcements for the transfer portal haven’t stopped.

Mississippi State had two more pop in on Wednesday as On3Sports reported that sophomore safety Kobi Albert and junior starting left tackle Makylan Pounders would both enter the portal. Neither have officially entered as the portal will open for business on December 9.

It was an up and down season for Pounders after transferring to Starkville from Memphis. One of the top graded tackles in the country last year for the Tigers, it was tougher sledding at times for Pounders with the Bulldogs as he moved in and out of the lineup with true freshman Luke Work.

Pounders started in 10 games and had nearly 600 snaps for the Bulldogs this year after being a starter for Memphis. He also committed to State out of high school at Byhalia but would ultimately flip to Ole Miss and then was dropped by the Rebels. He landed at Memphis for his first three seasons and had a productive tenure there.

For Albert, this will also be his second transfer. The former Kentucky safety was a four-star out of Fairfield Prep in Alabama. He played in 10 games as a true freshman for the Wildcats and had three tackles with 1.0 TFL.

After transferring to State, Albert went down with a knee injury just before the start of the 2023 season and was forced to redshirt. It was a long recovery and he never fully made an impact with the Bulldogs this season as he played in just four games and had four tackles with 1.0 TFL.

11 Bulldogs have already put their name in the portal this offseason with just one player, Kennesaw State DB Jayven Williams, in the boat to this point.
