Mississippi State LB Ty Cooper plans to enter transfer portal
Mississippi State junior LB Ty Cooper is moving on from the Bulldogs.
On3Sports reported that Cooper plans to enter the transfer portal when the window opens on December 9. It ends a four-year run for the Louisville native as Cooper will spend his final season elsewhere.
Cooper played the most reps of his career this season for Coleman Hutzler’s unit and had 29 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack. He ends his time in Starkville having played in 35 games and made 55 tackles, 3.0 TFL and 1.0 sack.
In high school, Cooper came from one of the most successful programs in the state of Mississippi. He played his ball for both MC Miller and Tyrone Shorter and won a state championship his senior year in 2020.

A member of the Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen and the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game, Cooper had 211 career tackles with 66.0 TFL, 22.0 sacks, four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and two interceptions. He also had two defensive touchdowns. His senior year, he led a dominant LHS team to a state championship win over Poplarville and delivered what was the 10th state title to the Wildcats when he had 112 tackles as a senior with an incredible 40.0 TFL and 12.0 sacks.
Cooper is the sixth player to have already been announced as entering the transfer portal. He joins WR Creed Whittemore, JJ Harrell and Trent Hudson as well as QB Chris Parson and fellow LB Tabias Hinton.
