KaMario Taylor jumps inside top 30 nationally in new On300
A new batch of On3 rankings are in for the class of 2025 and Mississippi State saw a couple of moves for commitments.
The biggest came from the Bulldogs’ crown jewel of the class in Noxubee County quarterback KaMario Taylor. The senior gunslinger has had a tremendous year with the Tigers and it was reflected in another move up the rankings.
Taylor comes in at No. 30 nationally and is now the No. 7 QB nationally. He also has now moved to No. 2 in the state of Mississippi just behind Auburn commitment and George County standout Deuce Knight.
On3 has been especially high on Taylor for well over a year with the next closest ranking being at No. 122 overall with 247 Sports. Director of Scouting Charles Power has been following closely for some time.
“KaMario Taylor‘s physical talent and playmaking ability are on display early on in his senior season for Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County,” Power said earlier this year. “The 6-foot-3.5, 205-pounder has made impressive plays on a weekly basis while keeping his team competitive in games against good programs from higher classifications. Taylor is the shiftiest runner of the quarterbacks inside the top 100. His burst, change of direction and contact balance make him very difficult for defenders to bring down. Taylor has a play-style that at times resembles backyard football. He has a strong arm to go with the natural athleticism, but will need to add polish as a passer once he gets to the college level in order maximize his considerable upside.”
Taylor is working on getting his Noxubee team back to the state championship game for the third-straight season. Taylor has led the Tigers to a 9-2 record 1,916 yards, 29 touchdowns and four interceptions despite replacing most of his starting receiver group. He’s also rushed 81 times for 858 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to being the Class 3A Mr. Football in Mississippi.

His level of play has earned him a recent offer from Georgia to go along with Missouri, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt inside the SEC. State continues to hold his commitment and just recently offered younger brother Jaiden Taylor who is an athlete in the 2026 class.
Making a slight move up in the rankings to No. 162 overall is Winona LB Tyler Lockett. The four-star is rated as the nation’s No. 20 linebacker and is the state’s No. 6 player overall.
Lockett just finished his senior season with the Tigers short of a state championship. Prior to that loss to Choctaw County, Lockett had 81 tackles on the season, 9.0 TFL, 3.0 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The former Auburn commitment has strong ties to State with older brother TJ Lockhart a freshman offensive lineman and former teammate Fred Clark a freshman linebacker.
