A Battle of the Bulldogs will take place in the afternoon on October 12.

The SEC formally announced game times for the conference next week with Mississippi State and Georgia scheduled to meet at 3:15 inside Sanford Stadium in Athens. It’s the second-straight game where State will play in that time slot and on SEC Network.

Barring a loss from the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday against Auburn, it is also likely to be the second-straight top 5 matchup for State. The Bulldogs are fresh off of a 35-13 loss at No. 1 Texas last week and are currently on a bye. Georgia is coming off of an instant classic ball game at Tuscaloosa, Ala., in which the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide took home a 41-34 victory after UGA erased a deficit of 23 points.

Oct. 12 is set up to be one of the more exciting weeks of the season as the SEC will have matchups with South Carolina/Alabama, Texas/Oklahoma, Florida/Tennessee and Ole Miss/LSU headlining the weekend

For State, it will be a team trying to erase a four-game losing streak and 1-4 start to the season against one of the favorites to compete for a national championship. The Bulldogs of MSU did show promise last week in the loss at Texas as freshman QB Michael Van Buren commanded the offense for the first time with some success.

State’s defense also was able to get off the field in several drives during the game and held Texas to under 60 yards rushing through three quarters and just 14 points at the half.
