Fans will have to wait one more day to get their Super Bulldog Weekend started at Dudy Noble Field.

Rain and severe thunderstorms have put game one on hold for Mississippi State and Kentucky. The originally scheduled 6 p.m. start has now been adjusted to a doubleheader on Saturday.

Game one will be at 2 p.m. with a game two to follow on Saturday evening. The final game of the series remains at Noon on Sunday as the Bulldogs and Wildcats meet in a pivotal series for both. Prior to the baseball series throwing out first pitch, fans can take in the 2nd Annual Starkville Derby in the Cotton District where Starkville is hosting the world’s largest Wiener Dog Race from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Saturday will be the first games played against SEC competition without head coach Chris Lemonis since his firing on Monday afternoon. Lemonis coached the Diamond Dawgs for seven seasons and led State to the College World Series in 2019 and 2021 with the school’s first team National Championship coming in that ’21 season.

Immediately following Lemonis’ firing, pitching coach Justin Parker was elevated to Interim head coach by Director of Athletics Zac Selmon. The second-year pitching coach helped State to a dominant 18-5 blowout in seven innings back on Tuesday.

State is set to keep its rotation as is this week with LHP Pico Kohn starting game one on Saturday, RHP Evan Siary taking game two and RHP Karson Ligon throwing the finale on Sunday.
