Ahead of Monday night’s matchup with Mississippi State and Missouri, the Bulldogs will be missing one of their top reserves.
Junior guard Destiney McPhaul was listed as “Out” on the SEC’s availability report on Sunday evening and will be joined by freshman Shakirah Edwards on the list. A team spokesperson said that McPhaul is battling an illness.
It’s a hit to State’s guard depth on Monday as McPhaul has been one of the Bulldogs’ sparkplugs off the bench. The junior college transfer is averaging 8.2 points per game in 19 games this season with 23.1 minutes. She shoots 49% from the field and 38% from 3-point range while pulling down 3.0 rebounds and dishing out 2.8 assists a game.
The 5’9 guard originally signed with Temple out of high school but became an All-American at Northwest Florida State College the last two seasons. She helped lead her team to back-to-back National Championships before transferring to State for her junior season this year.
