Mississippi State tackle Albert Reese lands Kent Hull Trophy
Albert Reese is finishing off a solid junior season with the state’s top award for offensive linemen.
The junior offensive tackle from Edmonton, Alberta, was named the 2024 recipient of the Kent Hull trophy by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. The award named after the former State great is given to the state’s best lineman every year.
A representative for the Bulldogs at this year’s SEC Media Days, Reese has been exactly what coach Jeff Lebby has been looking for in a leader on his team. He has started in nine of the 10 games at right tackle this year.
“A guy that’s been incredibly steady, incredibly unselfish. Playing at tackle, playing some at guard and doing a lot of things for us last spring. He’s a guy I took to Media Day because of who he is inside the building. A model of consistency. He’s a guy that has his best ball ahead of him. Who he is today and who he has a chance to be is pretty special.”

A former three-star recruit, the 6’7, 330-pound blocker played his high school football inside the state of Florida at Clearwater Academy International. He was initially committed to Rutgers but flipped to the Bulldogs in December of 2020. He had offers from Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan State, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Syracuse, UCF and many others.
Reese has helped the Bulldogs climb out of the depths of the SEC offensively last year to showing promises in Lebby’s first year. State is averaging 385.5 yards per game on the year with 146.9 on the ground, but the Bulldog ground game has picked up steam with 176.8 yards on the ground in the last four ball games.
The Bulldogs have now landed seven Kent Hull Trophy winners over the 12 years of its existence with Reese joining greats like Gabe Jackson, Charles Cross and Elgton Jenkins.
