Mississippi State official depth chart for Game 1 vs. Eastern Kentucky

Mississippi State gets the Jeff Lebby Era started on Saturday with a 5 p.m. kickoff against Eastern Kentucky at Davis Wade Stadium. On Monday as part of the weekly game notes, Mississippi State released the season-opening depth chart and there were a few surprises on those listings.

Lebby addressed a few of those surprises during his press conference on Monday. Lebby confirmed that senior receiver Kelly Akharaiyi and senior safety Corey Ellington will not be available on Saturday due to injuries and he did not specify when either would return to action.

Lebby also noted that senior running back Jeffrey Pittman is currently not with the team so obviously, Pittman will not play on Saturday in the season opener, as well. The following is the depth chart listed for State’s offense, defense and special teams:
