Bulldogs and Rebels have baseball series adjusted due to weather

With rain in the forecast over the next two days, Mississippi State’s plans have changed for its baseball series against rival Ole Miss.
The two teams will now start a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 pm as left-handed aces Hunter Elliot of Ole Miss and State’s Pico Kohn throw out the first pitches. Game two will follow 40 min. after the conclusion with an approximate start time likely close to the originally scheduled 7:30 time frame for Friday’s affair.
For fans heading to the ballgames on Friday, game one will honor Saturday’s tickets for seating with the Friday tickets granting standing room only tickets. Game two will grant access to the Friday ticket holders with Saturday tickets getting SRO. Friday’s parking passes will be accepted.
Sunday’s game three remains unchanged at this time with a 1 pm first pitch scheduled, but there is more rain in the forecast as well. Saturday’s predictions call for an all-day washout between the two teams with a front moving in on Friday night.

It’s a pivotal series between the two squads with the Diamond Dawgs desperately needing SEC wins to clinch a postseason berth. State (29-19, 10-14 SEC) won all four games last weekend with a midweek run-rule over Memphis followed by a sweep against the Kentucky Wildcats. This came after the firing of head coach Chris Lemonis on Monday of last week that led to pitching coach Justin Parker being promoted to interim head coach.
A productive final two weekends against Ole Miss and Missouri.
No. 24 Ole Miss is trying to work its way into a hosting spot and will need to close strong against State and Auburn to do so.
