Veteran running back Keyvone Lee to transfer from Mississippi State

Mississippi State running back Keyvone Lee is set to finish his career at another location as the senior heads to his third college.
The senior from St. Petersburg, Fla., was injured in the Bulldogs’ fourth game of the year against Florida and never returned to the field for State this year. It came after Lee was beginning to find his footing for a State offense that had struggled to run the ball to that point. He finished with 24 carries for 140 yards and one touchdown.
Lee started his career with Penn State in 2020 when he signed with the Nittany Lions out of American Collegiate Academy. The former four star was the No. 247 player nationally in that class and the No. 24 running back in the country when he chose Penn State over Alabama, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and many others.

In the COVID shortened 2020 season, Lee was Penn State’s leading rusher with 89 carries, 438 yards and four touchdowns in nine games. He rushed for 530 yards on 108 carries with two scores in year two. In his third year on campus, Lee played in just five games with 25 carries for 94 yards before hitting the portal.
As a junior a season ago, Lee struggled to get carries as he played in eight games and finished with 12 carries for 75 yards. He returned to State looking for new life with coach Jeff Lebby and had worked his way into a starting role before losing the rest of his season with injury.
Lee will have one more year of eligibility this year due to only playing in four games.
