Mississippi State WR Mario Craver hitting the portal
Freshman wide receiver Mario Craver is on the move from Mississippi State after one season.
Craver’s move was first reported by Pete Thamel but Maroon and White Daily subscribers were notified of the likelihood earlier on Monday.
The Birmingham, Ala., native was one of State’s big play threats as a true freshman this year when he hauled in 17 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns. He led the Bulldogs with 21.6 yards per catch in his nine games played.
He lost two games due to an injury in SEC play and another was by suspension from Jeff Lebby. Craver was also arrested back during the spring with fellow freshman WR JJ Harrell as the two were charged with possession of marijuana in a vehicle and possession of alcohol by a minor. Both Harrell and Craver are in the transfer portal.
A consensus four-star prospect from Clay-Chalkville, the electric Craver was rated as the No. 261 player in the country by On3Sports. He was the state of Alabama’s No. 18 player and the No. 44 wide receiver in the class when he committed to Lebby just before signing day.
