Mississippi State's Debreasha Powe entering the transfer portal

After three years as a regular starter for Mississippi State, Debreasha Powe is on the move from Starkville.
The Meridian native is entering the transfer portal for her final season of eligibility. This comes after starting 99 of the 100 games she played during her time in maroon and white. Powe was actively talked about as the team leader for the Bulldogs over the last two seasons and she helped lead Sam Purcell’s squad to two NCAA Tournaments during her three seasons with a trio of 20-win years.
Powe was most known for her three-point marksmanship – an area that vastly improved from year to year. During her three seasons, Powe made 181 shots from long range for a 37% clip, but the number went from 30% as a freshman to 40% as a sophomore before she made 41% this season with a career-high 73 makes.
After averaging 8.2 points in 33 games and 32 starts as a freshman, Powe started every game she played in the last two seasons. She had 8.9 points per game with 3.3 rebounds last season and scored 8.7 this year with 2.8 boards. Her 5.0 rebounds as a freshman were the best of her career.

At Meridian, Powe was an All-State performer and a four-star recruit who led her Wildcats to a state championship her senior season. She originally committed to former Bulldog coach Nikki McCray-Penson but would stay on through the coaching change and give Purcell a chance.
Powe leaves State as the fifth best three-point shooter in school history. Her 181 makes passed Blair Schaefer for that spot this season and she had the No. 3 spot in reach at 222. Her career 37% shooting was also top 10 in school history.
This is the third player to enter the transfer portal for the Bulldogs at this time. State has also lost freshmen Shakirah Edwards and Anaisha Carriere who entered the portal last week.
