Potent offensive attack leads Mississippi State past Jackson State
Jerkaila Jordan, Erynn Barnum, Debreasha Powe and Jessika Carter all shouldered a load and led the Mississippi State women’s hoops squad past Jackson State on Thursday night as the four combined for 74 points en route to an 82-72 victory.
The ladies didn’t just have success scoring the rock, either. Carter finished with 18 rebounds, earning her yet another double-double. Meanwhile, Jordan did damage across the stat book with two assists, 12 rebounds (six offensive) and a steal to go with her impressive point production.

That’s when Powe stepped in to provide a necessary steady shooting hand and quell the hopes of a comeback for Jackson State as Mississippi State held onto the lead throughout the quarter. Powe finished the night 5-8 from three point territory.
“I can’t even really take credit,” Powe said of her big fourth quarter three. “It was just my teammates. They give me so much confidence, so I know like, that’s the shot they wanted, so I know when I get it, look forward to it.”

Milestones Met
Jerkaila Jordan notched her 1,000th point in maroon and white on Thursday, and was highly complimented by head coach Sam Purcell. I can’t even begin to try and quote this, so this tweet will have to do.
Jessika Carter’s 18 rebounds were good enough for her fourth double double on the season, and came close to her career high of 21. If Mississippi State is going to make another push towards the tournament, it will more than likely be on the back of the four players that led the way for the Bulldogs on Thursday night.
Who’s Next?
Mississippi State will face off against the Memphis Tigers on Sunday, December 17, in Memphis. That game will tip off at 2 p.m. and as of right now, will not be streamed.
