Mississippi State junior guard Riley Kugel entering the transfer portal

Since the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, there’s been a lot of question marks surrounding Mississippi State junior guard Riley Kugel. On Wednesday, those questions were answered as sources close to the program confirmed Kugel is entering the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-5 and 210-pound Kugel experienced an up-and-down season for the Bulldogs and ranked fourth on the team with 9.3 points a game. The Orlando, Fla., native also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game while playing in 33 games, including 14 starts.
Also this past season, Kugel shot 43.4 from the floor, 33.3% from 3 point territory and 75.4% at the foul line.
Kugel originally signed with Mississippi State following his prep career at Dr. Phillips (Fla.) High School. However, after head coach Chris Jans replaced Ben Howland to direct the Bulldogs’ program, Kugel was released from his letter of intent and ended up signing with Florida.
