McComb High School’s Sanfrisco Magee has experienced a lot of change on the recruiting trail the past week. But all of that came to a conclusion this weekend during his official visit to Mississippi State.

Less than a week after decommitting from Ole Miss, the 2024 receiver and On3 three-star prospect switched his commitment to Mississippi State. The 6-foot-3 and 190-pound Magee is rated as the nation’s No. 113 receiver and the state’s No. 27 prospect by On3.

Magee gave his commitment to head coach Jeff Lebby and his staff Saturday evening during that official visit and noted of his decision following his official visit. Magee becomes the 15th commitment in State’s Class of 2024 and the third receiver commitment, joining On3 four-star prospect JJ Harrell and On3 three-star prospect Matt Mayfield.

“Coach Lebby has a good offense and he has coached a lot of good offenses,” Magee mentioned. “He believes I can step in right away and help at receiver. I think he is going to help change things around there and they stayed on me even during their coaching changes.”

Another big factor behind Magee’s decision was his relationship with Mississippi State receivers coach Chad Bumphis. For the past few months, Bumphis has let Magee know that he wanted the top receivers in the Magnolia State to stay at home for their college careers.

“I’ve had a good relationship with Coach Bump for several months now and we’re always texting each other,” added Magee. “Plus, Coach Bump has been in my shoes before and he knows about recruiting. He’s been talking to me about JJ (Harrell) and Stonka (Braylon Burnside) and he said our group could be the best receiver class to come through Mississippi State.

“And Coach Bump is a cool dude. He always says he can cover me and I told him no way he can. But he’s a good guy. He said being a big and physical receiver will help me do well in their offense.”

In his senior season, Magee displayed his play-making abilities on a consistent basis for McComb High School. He finished the season with 48 catches for 1,229 yards and 15 touchdowns.

During his decision to open things up last week, Magee mentioned that several Power 5 programs reached out to him and were hoping to secure an official visit with Magee. But clearly, there was one school in particular that stayed on Magee the hardest.

“I decided to decommit from Ole Miss because I felt like they could’ve been showing me more interest,” Magee recalled. “Once I did that, Mississippi State, Louisville, Georgia Tech, TCU and some other schools reached out to see if I was still interested. Mississippi State really never stopped recruiting me, though, and they were showing me the most interest.”
