Mississippi State has its third transfer portal addition to the women’s basketball roster for 2025-26.

Sam Purcell hosted Howard guard Saniyah King for an official visit over the weekend and the result was a commitment. King adds to a backcourt that is in rebuilding mode with the loss of key starters Jerkaila Jordan and Eniya Russell to graduation and Denim Deshields to the transfer portal.

At Howard, King was a star in her freshman season. She earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year after leading the conference in assists with 4.7 per game. The Washington, D.C. native started in 31 of the 32 games with 11.5 points per game and had a total of 145 assists with 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

King averaged 32.0 minutes per game and made 35% of her field goals, 34% of her three-point shots and made 75% from the free throw line. She was second in the league in three-point percentage and assists-turnover ratio, fifth in free throw percentage, sixth in minutes and 10th in three-pointers per game and scoring.

After losing eight players to the transfer portal since the end of the season, the Bulldog roster got down to just three scholarship players with Chandler Prater, Destiney McPhaul and Rocio Jiminez the only returners. MSU has since added former Auburn and Ole Miss forward Kharyssa Richardson being the first to transfer. State also picked up North Carolina transfer guard Trayanna Crisp earlier in the week and Crisp was in on an official visit with King over the weekend.

That brings the Bulldog roster to nine with three freshmen coming into the fold during the summer.
