With each passing hour, Mississippi State’s Class of 2025 keeps increasing during this weekend’s official visits. On Saturday evening 2025 offensive lineman Josiah Clemons and 2025 athlete/defensive back and On3 composite three-star prospect Sekou Smith Jr. announced their State commitments via social media.

Maroon and White Daily will have comment from both new Bulldog commitments once they conclude their official visits on Sunday. Clemons and Smith become the seventh and eighth commitments for head coach Jeff Lebby and State’s Class of 2025. They are also the third and fourth commitments of the night for State, joining 2025 defensive backs Derrion Horsley and Stephen Miller who announced earlier on Saturday evening.

The 6-foot and 180-pound Smith is being recruited as a safety at the next level and is rated as the nation’s No. 81 athlete by On3 rankings. The Miami Central (Fla.) High School product also holds offers from Miami, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Louisville and Maryland among others.

Clemons becomes the first offensive line commitment in the class for State offensive line coach Cody Kennedy. The Clinton Christian Academy standout also holds offers from Memphis, Marshall, Toledo, Louisiana and Southern Miss among others.

Clemons was among the top standouts at State’s Top Dawg Clinic in late May. Then three days later he was offered by State and noted then that he wouldn’t take long to make his college decision.

The Bulldogs currently have eight commitments now in the Class of 2025 with more official visitors expected to announce their commitments later this weekend. State entered the weekend with four 2025 commitments in On3 four-star quarterback Kamario Taylor of Noxubee County, On3 composite four-star linebacker Tyshun Willis of Velma Jackson High School, On3 three-star linebacker AJ Rice of Madison (Ala.) Academy and On3 three-star punter Jack Richardson of Madison Central High School.
