The transfer portal for the 2023 cycle doesn’t officially open until December 5th. But on Wednesday afternoon, a pair of Mississippi State offensive players noted of their intentions to enter the transfer portal.

Redshirt sophomore running back Simeon Price and junior receiver Jacoby Bellazar are expected to enter the transfer portal and leave the Bulldogs’ program. Earlier this week, athletic director Zac Selmon announced that the Bulldogs had fired head coach Zach Arnett.

This season Price has appeared in nine games and has just five carries for 41 yards along with two catches for 13 yards. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, the West Florida Tech product rushed 30 times for 156 yards and had 13 receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown.

Price’s best outing came in last year’s ReliaQuest Bowl game in which he was a key factor in State’s 19-10 over Illinois. Price led the State ground game in that bowl outing with seven carries for 68 yards. In the Class of 2021, Price was rated as the nation’s No. 43 running back and the state’s No. 87 prospect by On3.

Bellazar signed with Mississippi State in the Class of 2023 following a two-year career at Southwest Mississippi Community College. The Baton Rouge, La., native has appeared in two games this season and has one catch for 13 yards. Bellazar was on track to redshirt this season, which would leave him with two years of eligibility.

In last year’s signing class, Bellazar was rated as the nation’s No. 39 juco prospect and the No. 1 juco athlete prospect by On3.

Mississippi State is currently 4-6 on the season and will host Southern Miss Saturday in an 11 a.m. kickoff at Davis Wade Stadium. Greg Knox is the Bulldogs’ interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
