South Carolina transfer pitcher Tyler Pitzer commits to Mississippi State

Mississippi State added another piece of the pitching puzzle on Saturday with the commitment of former South Carolina right-handed pitcher Tyler Pitzer. The Pennsylvania native will be a junior in the 2026 season and is fourth transfer pitcher added this offseason by the Diamond Dogs.

This past season, most of Pitzer’s appearances were out of the bullpen and he did make two midweek starts. On the season, Pitzer was 4-0 with a 6.99 earned run average in 28.1 innings of work in 19 total appearances. In those innings, Pitzer struck out 32 and walked 28.

As a freshman in 2024, Pitzer also made 19 appearances with six starts on the mound. He finished that season with a 4-1 record and a 4.74 earned average with one save. In 43.2 innings, Pitzer struck out 57 batters.

Pitzer’s best outing as a freshman came in a start against Vanderbilt where he tossed 6.1 shutout innings with nine strikeouts and just three hits surrendered. For that outing Pitzer captured SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
