WATCH - MSU Running Back Keyvone Lee Q&A
Mississippi State running back Keyvone Lee met with the media earlier this week to detail the team’s upcoming road tilt with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Q: How would you assess how all the running backs in the room are embracing the offense?
A: It’s going good. We’re all (having) fun, we’re all learning and we’re all feeding off each other. We’re all picking things up from each other, so it’s been good so far.
Q: You’ve had some big runs here recently, what did it feel like to get out and stretch your legs for a little bit?
A: It was a blessing, man. It’s been amazing. It had been a minute since I had actually been on the field, and coming from Penn State, transferring, I was hurt the remainder of the season so getting back out there was just a blessing, man.
Q: How do you kind of handle that wait while you were still hurt?
A: I just stay ready so I don’t have to get ready. Just staying patient. That’s one thing I’ve learned over my journey, just staying patient and being ready whenever your time is called.
Q: Is there a moment in these last few weeks where you started to feel more comfortable with the system?
A: Yeah, as the time goes, I’m going, so I’m getting more comfortable, getting more aware of the situations and the scheme that’s going on, so it’s been good so far.
Q: How comfortable do you and some of the other veterans feel ahead of this stretch of road games?
A: Yeah, I came from Penn State, so the Big 10, it’s some big time environments. I can’t really say too much about the SEC, because I’m new here, but some of the environments I’ve been in have been crazy. I feel like I’m ready, everybody else on the team, they’re ready. They’ve got experience with this, road games and stuff, so I feel like we’re going to be good.

Q: When you get a chance to talk to Woody during the game, what do you two talk about?
A: I just tell him to be you. Be Woody. You know, Woody Marks, it got you here and it’s going to get you far in life, so just be you. Block out the distractions and just be you.
Q: What does he say to you?
A: Same thing. We’ve all got God-given talent, and it got us here, so just don’t really change too much. Don’t try to make the big plays, it’s going to come. Just be patient and be you.
Q: What’s it been like to play alongside a guy like (Woody)?
A: That’s been good. It kind of shows you what type of person he is, and what type of player he is. It just helps you. You could take some things from him and just be like ‘man, he’s a tough kid. He’s going to battle a lot, he’s going to play no matter what. He’s going to go out there and ball.’
Q: You mentioned playing in big environments in both conferences, what’s it like to walk out there and have 75,000 people hate you?
A: You just have to block it out. I’ve been in environments that have way more (people), and you’ve just got to block it out. It’s a thrill, though. It’s kind of fun when everybody’s going against you and you just shut them up. It’s kind of amazing.
