Going forward, each week, we will have a weekly report on both men and women’s Mississippi State basketball opponents and where fans can find the games on network television, streaming or otherwise. This article will be pinned each week and will also appear as a “sticky” thread on our message boards.

Mississippi State Men’s Hoops

It’s win and get in for Mississippi State Men’s hoops by most metrics today. The Bulldogs (19-12, 8-10) have been in search of that elusive 20th win for four straight games now, and haven’t been able to get it done.

According to ESPN Chief Bracketologist Joe Lunardi, Mississippi State currently sits as one of the last four byes in the Big Dance. With a win over LSU today, the Bulldogs should lock up a spot. However, a loss today would meen relegation to the play-in, where a usurping is possible via a bid-stealing conference tournament run by another team.

In short, it’s do or die for the Bulldogs, unless an NIT bid is preferable.

It’s as big as it gets for Mississippi State in Nashville today against LSU. That game tips off at noon on the SEC Network.

If Mississippi State wins today, the team will find out its destiny on Selection Sunday. The Selection Show will be aired on both TNT Sports and CBS Sports this Sunday at 5 p.m.

Mississippi State Women’s Hoops

The Mississippi State women suffered a collapse of monumental proportions. There’s no other way to put it.

Losers in seven of their last 8 games, the Bulldogs went from firmly locked into the tournament to potentially being on the outside looking in.

ESPN’s Charlie Creme has the women as the first team out of the Big Dance come selection Sunday, something that if you would have told Bulldog fans at the end of January would be the case, would have you laughed out of the room.

After the team’s disappointing first round exit in the SEC Tournament, all eyes will be glued to the screens with hope that some wins like the one over No. 9 LSU will be enough in the committee’s eyes to keep the Bulldogs alive. The women’s selection show will be aired this Sunday on ESPN starting at 7 p.m.
