Mississippi State Men’s Hoops

This Wednesday, the Bulldogs will host Murray State (3-5) at 6:30 p.m. after a huge win over the Tulane Green Wave in Atlanta as part of the Holliday Hoopsgiving invitational. That game will be aired on SEC Network + and ESPN + exclusively.

On Sunday, Mississippi State will make the short drive north to Tupelo, Mississippi, to take on the North Texas Mean Green (5-4) in Cadence Bank Arena. That game will also be aired exclusively on the ESPN + streaming network.

Freshman point guard Josh Hubbard continues to light up scoreboards, as the came away with a team leading 22 points in the team’s last outing after only scoring in the first half.

What’s more, All-SEC forward Tolu Smith is inching towards a return, and Chris Jans gave details of Smith’s rehabilitation process and recovery in a press conference on Monday.

Saturday’s dominating win felt like a turnaround game for Mississippi State. Now, all they have to do is keep that momentum going through the rest of the non-conference slate. With Shakeel Moore back in the starting lineup this past weekend, he had his best game yet on the 2023-24 season. All signs are pointing towards a rebounding Bulldog basketball team, and that couldn’t come at a better time.

Mississippi State Women’s Hoops

The men weren’t the only ones to get back on track this week. After suffering two straight losses on the season themselves, one of which was against Miami with only seven players dressed out, the other coming at UT Chattanooga without star forwards Jessika Carter and Erynn Barnum, MSU women’s hoops appeared to “get right” against Kennesaw State in a 91-50 win.

The women will be back in action on Thursday in Starkville as they play host to the Jackson State Tigers (5-3) at 6:30 p.m. That game will be aired on ESPN +.

On Dec. 17, the women will take to the road to face off against the Memphis Tigers (4-6) in Memphis, and that game will not be broadcasted anywhere as of this moment.

WIth Barnum and Carter back, Mississippi State finally has their rebounding back on track. If they can keep up that pace along with the continuing emergence of Lauren Park-Lane at the point, this team will be back in the top-25 hunt in no time.
