Going forward, each week, we will have a weekly report on both men and women’s Mississippi State basketball opponents and where fans can find the games on network television, streaming or otherwise. This article will be pinned each week and will also appear as a “sticky” thread on our message boards.

Mississippi State Men’s Hoops

Consider the must win won. After Mississippi State (14-6, 3-4) notched a win over the No. 8 Auburn Tigers, the team’s tournament resume got a boost in a big way. The Bulldogs have defended home turf with the best of them, but now, with two top 10 wins under its belt, Mississippi State will take to the road to try and earn the first road conference win of the season.

What an opportunity it is, too. Mississippi State will travel to Oxford Tuesday night, Jan. 30, to face off against first year head coach Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be aired on the SEC Network.

MSU Freshman phenom Josh Hubbard, a former Ole Miss commit, will no doubt be greeted with a warm welcome, but head coach Chris Jans thinks that’s only adding fuel to the fire for Hubbard and the rest of the Bulldog squad.

After Ole Miss, Mississippi State will turn its attention to a revenge match with Alabama and head coach Nate Oats in Tuscaloosa. Alabama took the win earlier this season against State, and at the time, the fan base felt a certain amount of sting around the loss.

The game against the Tide will be aired on the SEC Network as well with tip off coming Saturday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

Mississippi State Women’s Hoops

The first sellout of the Sam Purcell era is here for Mississippi State women’s basketball, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Tonight, at 6 p.m., the women (16-5, 3-3) will take on the defending national champions in the LSU Tigers in Starkville. Mississippi State doesn’t necessarily need this win to make the tournament, but the resume’ boost gained from such a win would be monumental. For those unable to make it, the game will be aired on ESPN2.

With everyone back healthy, the Mississippi State women’s squad is positioning itself for a late season rise up the NET rankings. If that’s the result, they can expect to be in good company come March.

It’s a short turn around for the women’s squad this week, too, as they have to turn around and hit the road as soon as play wraps up against LSU. Why? They face Kentucky, in Lexington, on Thursday, Feb. 3. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be aired on the SEC Network+.

You might think that the ladies get to enjoy a short home stand, or at least a hot meal in Starkville afterwards, right? Unfortunately, no. The ladies will then take to the road to College Station to face off against Texas A&M on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 3 p.m. That game will be aired on the SEC Network.

Three games in seven days is tiring work, but if Mississippi State can come out of it with a positive record, their tournament hopes look much, much brighter.
