Going forward, each week, we will have a weekly report on both men and women’s Mississippi State basketball opponents and where fans can find the games on network television, streaming or otherwise. This article will be pinned each week and will also appear as a “sticky” thread on our message boards.

Mississippi State Men’s Hoops

After experiencing the January schedule from hell, Mississippi State men’s hoops has managed to recapture some of the momentum they lost earlier in the year.

Riding two straight wins, Mississippi State (16-8, 5-6) will spend this week resting up, getting healthy (hopefully) and preparing for a bout with the Arkansas Razorbacks (12-11, 3-7) this Saturday, Feb. 17, with a 1 p.m. tip time. That game will be aired on ESPNU.

With Keshawn Murphy’s return to the lineup, head coach Chris Jans has added a key piece of depth at the four. DJ Jeffries is still out along with Trey Fort for the time being. In his Monday press conference, Jans said both players are a “maybe” for the game against Arkansas.

With the offense getting back to a comfortable state against a pair of lower-tier SEC squads, Mississippi State will have a chance to get another home conference win to get back to .500 in league play. It’s no secret that 20 wins is an earmark for an NCAA tournament team, and the Bulldogs have a chance to inch closer to that goal this week.

Mississippi State Women’s Hoops

The women’s team was riding high coming into Sunday’s matchup against Florida, but the Gators decided to have one of the best offensive halves of college basketball on record, which led to them putting up 90 points in The Hump.

The loss snapped a winning streak for Mississippi State, but the ladies will have a chance to get back to business this weekend after a well-deserved week of rest. Mississippi State (20-6, 7-4) will return to action on Sunday in Oxford against Ole Miss (16-7, 6-4) at 3 p.m. That game will be aired on the SEC Network +.

Jessika Carter was injured in Sunday’s game, but later returned to action in the loss. That should give Mississippi State fans some solace when combined with the upcoming week of rest. Bad losses happen in college basketball – it’s a sport that makes no exceptions – and Mississippi State just so happened to be on the wrong side of one on Sunday. The important thing, though, is the response to such losses.

Sam Purcell’s team has responded well at almost every junction this season, and with the added motivation of playing the in-state rivals, Mississippi State should be even more ready to get back to work than before.
