3 position battles to watch in NC State’s fall camp
NC State coach Dave Doeren sat in his office this summer, and as the question was asked, his eyes appeared to light up. He and his staff brought in an influx of talent through the transfer portal, but how is the Wolfpack going to manage the snaps throughout the season? Practice. Doeren didn’t hesitate to say it. With a two-deep at nearly every position, 30 snaps one game could quickly turn into 15 the next for players if they get passed in the following week of practice. That’s exactly what the 12th-year coach is looking for on his team, and he has it this fall. “Your goal is to have competitive depth at every position, and we didn’t have that a year ago,” Doeren told TheWolfpacker.com in June. “We have that now. It pushes guys to be better in practice, knowing that the guy behind them can take their reps.” Now, that competitive spirit will be on full display as the Pack opens fall camp Wednesday morning on the practice fields outside Carter-Finley Stadium. NC State has several starting spots up for grabs and TheWolfpacker.com is here to lay them all out going into the next month of practices.
