3-star guard RJ Greer signs with NC State
Three-star shooting RJ Greer, NC State’s first commitment of the 2025 recruiting class, completed his college recruitment by singing with the Wolfpack on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4 scorer was a top priority for coach Kevin Keatts and his staff, filling one of eight open spots on next season’s roster. For Greer, the No. 133 overall player in the 2025 cycle, it was an easy decision to join the Wolfpack.
“They have a bright future for me,” Greer told TheWolfpacker.com after his commitment in June, “so it was a no-brainer.”

How Greer ended up at NC State
NC State was in hot pursuit of Greer’s services for most of last year. Greer, whose father is an assistant at Dayton, traveled to the Final Four to check out the final weekend of the season. While he was in Phoenix, Greer continued to see what NC State’s fan base was like and was able to watch the Pack up close in the program’s biggest game since it won the 1983 national championship.

That experience helped sell Greer on the Wolfpack.
“I was surprised,” Greer said of NC State’s fan base at the Final Four. “I remember when Dayton played NC State in the Bahamas and my mom was there and she said they had a solid amount of fans. I wasn’t expecting anything crazy, but I was surprised at the amount of people that came for NC State at the Final Four. They had a really great showing.”

Why Greer picked NC State
While the guard was able to see what NC State’s game day environment looked like on a neutral floor with thousands of Wolfpack fans in attendance, his official visit was the final box for him to check off.
Greer traveled to Raleigh with his family in June, the first of three he initially scheduled, but after his time back on campus, the three-star recruit canceled his next two stops at Cincinnati and Penn State.
He was home.
“Just seeing the coaching staff again and really seeing how much they genuinely wanted me and how they were, it was kind of a no-brainer,” Greer told TheWolfpacker.com. “I came back and talked with my parents and I said, ‘I don’t think I need to take another official visit.’”
