BREAKING: 3-star CB Cam Strong commits to NC State
Cameron Strong committed to NC State Friday, choosing the program over a final three that also included West Virginia and Georgia Tech. The top priority cornerback officially visited Raleigh June 7-9.
After picking up an offer from the Pack Oct. 17, 2023, he continued to build a relationship with the staff and stopped by campus on four separate occasions. The Anderson (S.C.) T L Hanna High star nearly committed to the program in January but decided to wait.
In the week leading up to his June 21 commitment, he realized NC State was home.
Strong announced the news on Instagram Live and informed the coaches of his decision earlier in the week. He also held offers from Virginia Tech, Duke, Michigan State and others. The 6-1, 170 pound cornerback also visited West Virginia and Georgia Tech earlier this month before making his decision.
Over the past year, Strong traveled to Raleigh several times. He visited for the game against Marshall before he held an offer and then returned for NC State’s victory over North Carolina.
“It was amazing hospitality to me and my family… I would say the highlight of the trip was just the atmosphere, the student section,” Strong said after the first trip.
In-between those game day visits, Wolfpack cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell visited his school for an in-person evaluation.
“He’s a really good guy,” Strong said in January. “One thing that stands out about him, from what I’ve been told, is that he’s not just a coach. He’s more than just a coach. He’s going to make sure you’re straight.”

Head coach Dave Doeren has also visited T L Hanna High to meet with the nation’s No. 70 cornerback.
The Wolfpack cornerback commit is from the same city as NC State freshman wide receiver Jimmar Boston, and he knows sophomore cornerback Brandon Cisse, who also attended high school in South Carolina. Cisse and redshirt freshman safety Zack Myers hosted Strong on his official visit.
“I think I connected pretty well,” Strong said. “They were all very welcoming and told me a lot of things about the program and just gave me a lot of information.”
Strong is the second cornerback pledge of the Pack’s 2025 class and the No. 7 commit overall. The On3 Industry Ranking considers him the No. 16 recruit in South Carolina and the No. 728 prospect nationally.
