Breaking down NC State's All-ACC selections
The ACC released its annual all-conference selections Tuesday evening, recognizing the accomplishments its top football players. A total of four NC State players earned spots on the prestigious postseason list.
Graduate linebacker Payton Wilson ended up on the first team, freshman wide receiver Kevin Concepcion secured a spot on the second team and both junior cornerback Aydan White and redshirt junior offensive tackle Anthony Belton made the third team.
In addition to those accolades, a total of seven players received honorable mention recognition: junior defensive lineman Davin Vann, junior safety Devan Boykin, graduate long snapper Joe Shimko, redshirt junior center Dylan McMahon, redshirt junior offensive lineman Timothy McKay, redshirt junior cornerback Shyheim Battle and senior linebacker Jaylon Scott.
Florida State led all teams with 17 selections to the all-conference squads. The ACC explained the voting process in its press release.
“The All-ACC teams were chosen by a voting panel of 51 media members and each of the league’s 14 head coaches for a total of 65 voters. Three points were awarded for each first-team vote, two points for each second-team vote, and one point for each third-team selection.”
Wilson received more votes (184) than any other player on the ballot. He led the league in both tackles (138) and tackles for loss (17.5). The graduate also recorded 3 interceptions, including one that he returned for a touchdown, 2 forced fumbles and 6 sacks. This is his second time recording 100 tackles in a season.
