NC State picked up a transfer portal commit from former Missouri offensive tackle Valen Erickson Saturday evening. He is in the middle of an official visit with the Wolfpack.

The 6-5, 304-pound offensive tackle from Chicago, Illinois, has three seasons of eligibility remaining. NC State has now picked up three transfer commitments. Erickson joins Notre Dame center Zeke Correll and Wake Forest wide receiver Wesley Grimes in the program’s 2024 transfer class.

Erickson entered the transfer portal Nov. 13.

“First, I would like to thank coach Link, coach Johnson, coach Drink and the rest of the entire coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to play for the Tigers,” Erickson wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “I would like to acknowledge all of my teammates’ efforts and the great friendships I made that will last a life time. I know y’all are going to finish this year out big and continue to do big things in Columbia.

“With all that being said, it is in my best interest to begin next season with a fresh start and find a new home by entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”

Prior to entering the transfer portal, the offensive tackle spent two seasons with Missouri but did not record a snap in any games. He signed with the SEC program as a three star recruit out of Chicago (IL) St. Rita High. The On3 Industry Ranking considered him the No. 809 recruit nationally, the No. 56 offensive lineman in the country and Illinois’ No. 18 prospect.

Based on TheWolfpacker.com’s count, the offensive lineman’s decision brings NC State up to 77 scholarships for the 2024 season once the 21 Wolfpack prep commits officially join the program.

On3’s rankings consider Erickson the No. 62 offensive tackle in the transfer portal.
