BREAKING: Casey Morsell, Isaiah Miranda officially enter NBA Draft
NC State men’s basketball guard Casey Morsell and forward Isaiah Miranda have both declared for the NBA draft. The NBA released its full list of early entrants for the 2023 draft Tuesday night, and the two Wolfpack athletes appeared on the list.
Neither player publicly declared their intentions to declare, and they could still return to NC State after going through part of the pre-draft process.
“Players who have applied for early entry have the right to withdraw their names from consideration for the Draft by notifying the NBA of their decision in writing no later than 5 p.m. ET on Monday, June 12,” the NBA wrote in a press release. “Under NCAA rules, in order to retain college basketball eligibility, college players who have entered NBA Draft 2023 must withdraw by Wednesday, May 31.”
Morsell, a senior, was a fixture in the Pack’s starting lineup last season, scoring 11.8 points-per-game and shooting 41.1-percent from three. Playing in all 34 games, the senior was the team’s fourth-leading scorer and added 4.4 rebounds per game as well.
Miranda signed with NC State as a mid-year enrollee. He was the No. 40 recruit in the country but did not appear in a game during his freshman season.

“The tools pop immediately for Isaiah Miranda,” On3 wrote in his scouting report coming out of high school. “At 7-0, 7-1 the center moves in a way most his size are not able. He is very fluid with a lot of explosive pop. Miranda can shoot the ball with deep range and he has great hand eye coordination with touch. His shot selection can be very erratic at times. He will have to learn the finer nuances of the game, like angles and footwork (he is oftentimes out of position to make a play). When it comes to raw upside, there might not be a player with more in this class. Now it is a matter of polishing it and putting it all together.”
NC State is currently at its scholarship limit if both Miranda and Morsell return for next season. Sophomore guard Terquavion Smith previously announced his intentions to enter the draft after leading the program in scoring at 17.9 points-per-game.
So far this offseason, the Wolfpack added 5 transfers. Combo guards DJ Horne and Jayden Taylor, big men Ben Middlebrooks and Mohamed Diarra and guard MJ Rice all committed to NC State out of the portal.
