BREAKING: Casey Morsell announces return to NC State
NC State just received another boost to its 2023-2024 roster. Senior guard Casey Morsell will withdraw from the NBA Draft and return to the Wolfpack for his final season of eligibility.
After averaging 11.8 points per game last season and reliably making plays as one of the team’s top perimeter defenders, Morsell declared for the draft and went through that process before ultimately deciding to play his final season of college eligibility.
The NC State guard’s decision likely finalizes the team’s roster for the upcoming season. His return solidifies the program’s thirteenth scholarship.
He announced the decision on Twitter.

He started every game for the Pack during the 2022-2023 season, providing a stabilizing presence on the court all year and finishing fourth in scoring. The guard also led the team in three-point shooting percentage with a minimum of 20 attempts.
Last year was Morsell’s second with NC State after transferring from Virginia. He averaged 24.3 minutes per game as a junior, almost 11 less than his robust role this year, but still started 20 contests and scored 7.2 points per game. During his two seasons at UVA, he averaged 4.2 points per game.
Joining Terquavion Smith and Isaiah Miranda, who has since entered the transfer portal, Morsell was one of three Wolfpack athletes to appear on the NBA Draft’s early entrants list, but he opted to return to Raleigh 10 days before the May 31 deadline.
Morsell is now one of seven guards on next year’s roster.
